any number or variety of DLT systems - from internal bare drives,
to external units complete with appropriate backup software,
to Autoloaders and Library systems.
DLT libraries can incorporate either DLT 4000, DLT 7000, DLT8000
or any next generation drives, and can provide up to 36.9 TB
of capacity. They have one of the highest data storage densities
in the industry and feature native transfer rates of up to 360
MB per minute. DLT Autoloaders and Libraries give you all the
advantages of automated backup: fewer errors, less downtime,
no more missed backups and hands-free file restoration.
To ensure outstanding performance with unquestionable reliability,
Quantum-built DLT mechanisms employ many advanced design features.
For instance, they utilise a dual-channel read/write system
to maximise performance. To ensure the fastest-possible access
times, DLT drives use a unique tape mark directory. The drives
also support high-efficiency data compression and compaction
to deliver maximum performance and capacity. Adaptive cache
buffering optimises operation with varying host transfer rates.
