What
is StorageWorld?
StorageWorld
is a web site built as a reference for both data storage professionals
and end-users to provide an overview of the range of expert data
storage service and experience provided to SME and Enterprise class
businesses in the UK. There is a wide & diverse network of independent
data professionals in the UK providing consultant & engineering
services on all aspects of data storage, data network design, project
management of data system implementations, and offering vendor-independent
advice through either a direct relationship with end clients or
through third-party suppliers.
This
site is not part of any business, public or private, nor aimed
at selling any specific product. This site is formed by a dedicated
group of professionals, geared to providing long-term, high-level
services to customers through a close working partnership. The
umbrella term 'StorageWorld' is used to describe this independent
group of experts and provide a platform to promote and explain
the type of services data professionals provide.
Data
System Complexity
The
complexity of different data storage platforms, architectures, and
formats, makes ensuring your organisation is using the most efficient,
reliable, and appropriate data storage system, is a time-consuming
task that most organisations simply do not have the time of financial
flexibility to perform.
As
the IT supply industry moves quickly, introducing new protocol
standards, equipment specifications, software systems, and storage
formats, without necessarily retiring existing ones, ensuring
the right solution is implemented requires a dedicated storage
expert. For the majority of businesses, it is simply not financially
viable to provide a full-time internal data storage manager.
The
objective of StorageWorld is to provide expert data storage advice
and management services to clients as and when the require it.
We work with our clients to develop their systems, working with
in-house IT staff on the technical side, and departmental managers,
project managers & committees, and company boardroom, on the
business side. We essentially provide a link between technical
and business units as part of developing robust and compliant
data storage facilities, that form the basis of disaster recovery
and business continuity planning.
The
StorageWorld logo and name is a trademark
of Discovery Business Systems Ltd and is used to differentiate
ourselves and our policy of offering dedicated storage services.
It is intended to make our dedicated storage services obvious
and unequivocal.
Discovery
Business Systems Ltd is a privately held company registered in
England with our main registered office based in London. Formed
with the purpose of being a dedicated data storage specialist,
we have established ourselves as one of the few suppliers in the
UK that exclusively specialise in storage technology to general
businesses and corporate users.
Networks
of Storage Expertise
As well as providing expert in-house services, through
close working partnerships with vendors and manufacturers, using
a data storage professional rather than simply a general IT supplier
can provide you with access to a range of storage experts, engineers,
and consultants, all geared to provide accurate information rather
than simply reiterating the vendor's PR and press releases.
Using
pre-sales specification services such as on-site surveys, combined
with installation services can help you evaluate the correct storage
system & configuration, and ensure a smooth integration service
with the minimum of interruption and downtime. On-site cover for
your equipment providing you with engineers and replacement components
with same day responses can be provided to businesses and organisations
through the UK or country of origin.
The
Philosophy
The
philosophy is really very simple. We do not compete on cut-price
wars, on discounting our favourite products, on selling you the
only thing in stock, or forcing the lines which give us the greatest
margin. We compete on one simple commodity: independence and knowledge.
This is what we consider to be the most important & key aspects
of business within the IT industry:
- Professional
Knowledge
- Technical
Experience
- Product
Familiarity
- Independence
Everyone
knows of companies that only supply equipment because they play
golf with the sales people from their flavour of the month manufacturer,
they have a cash back from the manufacturer, or they supply from
a limited stock, so they can sell you a high-margin impractical
product from their range. Businesses across the UK are familiar
with the scenario of sitting staring at their IT infrastructure
that is simply not up to the task despite assurances from their
supplier.
Independence
Our
independence is one of our greatest strengths and differentiates.
It breeds our honesty and impartiality in developing solutions
for our clients. We have formed a number of non-exclusive partnerships
with manufacturers and suppliers in a bid to provide the highest
level of support and knowledge. Our objective is to build resilient
data solutions of the highest standard from the widest selection
of 'best-of-breed' components, each solution specifically designed
for the client.
Professional
Services
The
IT supply industry has suffered over the past few years for a
number of reasons: as the conventional sales people have moved
into it without regard for the responsibility IT systems play
in the day to day running of not only individual businesses, but
of global organisational economies in general; as we have come
to regard computer systems more and more as disposable items and
not heed as much attention as we should to their intended usage;
ties to products that eliminate independent advice. Many people
have developed a tendency to guard their technical knowledge jealously
and sell it only to the highest bidder; all of these have reduced
the quality of equipment and service we should expect - if not
demand - for some of the most critical business procurements we
can make.
At
Discovery StorageWorld, we take the opposite road to high volume
sales to fickle consumers. Our target market is professional IT
and business people who need a reliable and professional service
and product, and those with a technical know-how who do not want
to waste time speaking to someone who has just arrived in their
first placement. IT system technology is becoming the very backbone
on which many businesses - some without even realising the true
extent of their dependency - are built, and upon which the financial
and employee security is reliant.
At
Discovery StorageWorld we offer our clients professional advice,
criticism, analysis, and supply of quality products and solutions.
We do not haggle. We do not discount. We do not give away 'freebies'.
We do not have 'limited offers' in a bid to rid ourselves of surplus
stock no-one else wants. We do not have 'management trainee' staff.
We do not give commission to 'sales' people in order to artificially
bump sales figures through pressure selling consumer goods that
are unsuitable for business users.
We
do, however, give one of the best services you will receive in
the marketplace. We will give our clients the correct and articulate
advice. We do know exactly how our products work, and have the
technical resources and knowledge to answer pre-sales and post-sales
technical queries - without recourse to handing out manufacturer's
telephone support numbers in lieu of support once it is in your
possession. We do give the assurance of dealing with IT professionals
instead of an untrained sales force.
If
you are after an off-the-shelf-bargain-budget-special-offer-buy-it-now-save-three-pounds-on-each-pack-of-seven-any-old-storage-system,
please ring our competitors immediately.
When you ask a question on storage it will get answered correctly.
