
Each new
stripe begins on a different drive to the previous stripe and rotates
through all the members of the array.
The fourth stripe in the above example would begin on Drive 3.
This rotation ensures that the parity information is dispersed through
the array.
The drives may be SCSI, Fibre Channel, SSA or any other available multi-threaded
interface.
The drives may also reside any any physical bus or channel and do not
have to be located in the same physical location.
RAID creates a logical drive from drives physically separated.
